206 million. That’s the number of “hits” that Google serves up when you use it to search for the word “genealogy.” Most of us won’t get past the first page, which gives us 14 websites, three blogs and a couple of books. So, how does one get STARTED?
Try a two-hour seminar sponsored by CATS on Saturday, December 4, 10-12, at the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools at 112 Nevada City Highway in Nevada City. Hock Tjoa, Treasurer and Board member of CATS, will present a brief review of the essentials and your options, based on his own attempts to search for ancestors beyond his grandparents; there will be a question and answer period and participants with any relevant experience will be welcomed to share them.

Tibet in Song is both a celebration of traditional Tibetan folk music and a harrowing journey into the past fifty years of cultural repression inside Chinese controlled Tibet. Director and former Tibetan political prisoner, Ngawang Choephel, weaves a story of beauty, pain, brutality and resilience, introducing Tibet to the world in a way never before seen on film.
Meet the filmmaker Ngawang Choephel for a talk back after the screening.
