Introducing The Great Leap Director – Scott Gilbert

Headshot of a man.

Scott Gilbert is very pleased to be directing his first show for CATS. Previously, he was the Artistic and Producing Director of The Foothill Theatre Company, directing many productions there and for the Lake Tahoe and Sierra Shakespeare Festivals, including Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, Noises Off, and A Christmas Story. Directing credits at theatres in Louisiana, Oregon, California and West Virginia include A Raisin in the Sun, Tartuffe, West Side Story, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Time Stands Still, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The Mousetrap, The Hostage, A Doll’s House, and many of Shakespeare’s plays. In Nevada County, he most recently directed Cabaret, Blithe Spirit, and You Can’t Take It With You for Sierra Stages. For ten years, he was on the theatre faculty at Louisiana Tech University, and he currently teaches acting at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, where he recently created a newly devised production of The Comedy of Errors. He is a member of the Society of American Fight Directors, has Theatre degrees from Louisiana Tech and Oregon State University, and really loves the costume designer!
