And Then They Came for Us – Does History Matter? — CATS Explores Why It Does!

On Wednesday, August 7, at 7pm, at the Nevada Theatre, Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS), in partnership with The Onyx Downtown, is presenting And Then They Came for Us, an award-winning documentary by Abby Ginzberg and Ken Schneider and starring George Takei, an actor and activist, better known as “Mr. Sulu” from Star Trek. And Then They Came for Us was filmed in 2017, in response to President Trump’s “Muslim Travel Ban”. Its message still resonates today, comparing the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans at Internment Camps, better known as War Relocation Centers, to what is happening in American streets today, especially towards immigrants and people of color.

Nevada Theatre Box Office dedicated to Lisa Moon

The Nevada Theatre Box Office was dedicated on January 18 to the loving memory of Lisa Moon, the late Artistic Director of the Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra. Gathering for this unveiling and dedication were, in addition to friends, Lisa’s family, members of the CATS Board, and members of the Nevada Theatre Commission Board.
